Composite Windows

Benefits of Composite Windows

Our composite windows bring together daylight, beauty and warmth to truly amplify your happy home. Highly energy-efficient as standard, they act as the catalyst to a totally comfortable and content environment, no matter what type of home you live in.

All of our windows are made entirely bespoke. We put the utmost care into every consideration, from colour and glazing all the way through to opening and closing functions, to create something that’s perfectly suited to you.

5  Great Reasons To Choose Composite Windows

Energy Efficiency

When we talk about ‘energy efficiency’ we are talking about reducing – or even eliminating – energy waste in your house.

In the average home, 20-25% of heat is generally lost through windows. Typically, heat loss around thermally deficient or poorly fitted windows can occur via:

  • Air leakage around opening sashes
  • Conduction through glazing panes
  • Conduction through the window frame
  • Air leakage around the frame

By contrast, well-installed, high-performance composite windows, either double glazing or triple glazing, minimise the heat loss and improve the building’s overall thermal efficiency.

Windows For Architectural Impact

Our composite windows are characterised by elegant clean lines and can also be created in different shapes. As a result, you can specify a shaped window that suits your building style and architecture or create a feature by combining different shapes and sizes for a greater architectural impact. Not only will you experience more daylight, your home will also have a timeless appearance that you can enjoy year after year.

Composite windows retain a uniform appearance, whether they open or not, further enhancing the uncluttered feel optimised by the contemporary design.

More Colours, More Choice

Coloured window frames and doors can add character to your home, so why not exploit the versatility of the VELFAC composite aluminium / timber system by choosing a different colour palette inside and out?

What options are available?
External aluminium window frames and doors can be polyester-powder coated or can feature a granite or anodised finish. Polyester Powder frames are our standard solution, while granite and anodised are considered “specialities”.

Internal timber frame can be specified in a clear lacquer to enhance the warmth of natural wood or in a range of RAL colours to match your interior decor.

Low Maintenance

If you are looking for hassle free windows, we have the solution for you. VELFAC composite aluminium / wood windows and doors are built with the highest quality materials and are designed to be low maintenance without compromising on energy efficiency. Our windows and doors system features an external frame made of powder-coated aluminium, which won’t need repainting for the lifetime of the unit and will resist even the harshest weather conditions.

The internal wood frame on the other side, with its highly insulating properties, can reduce your heating needs while also helping maintain a better indoor climate, saving potentially hundreds of pounds in energy bills.

In terms of maintenance, both external aluminium and internal pine frames only need regular cleaning with a solution of lukewarm water and mild detergent to be applied using a soft cloth or sponge, while moving parts only need to be cleaned and lubricated once a year.

Noise Reduction

Our composite windows are designed to reduce the level of unwanted noise including heavy traffic and other external noise.

Our high-performance composite windows offer excellent insulation which not only reduces heating bills, but also provides impressive noise reduction.

Sound dampening performance in windows is shown by an Rw rating which indicates the number of decibels by which a window can reduce apparent noise. A standard composite double glazed unit achieves Rw32, which can be increased to Rw41 by adjusting the thickness of the glass and the glazing rebate.

While composite double glazed windows and doors are very effective at reducing noise, the use of thicker glass or different combinations of glass can significantly improve performance and can deliver more precise acoustic control.
